About Cookies

Some users may be unsure of, or concerned about, our use of Cookies. Cookies are a way for the web programmer to ask your browser to store something on your hard disk.

Why we use them

The WiseGuides system simply asks the browser to store one variable, called CPEID with the value of your User ID. You can't proceed without letting us do this, otherwise we have no way to know who gets the questions right and who gets them wrong. The cookie will be removed immediately you exit the browser.

Changing your settings

If you are unsure or concerned about the use of cookie's, you might wish to change your browser preferences to warn you when a system tries to set a cookie. This way you will get a popup screen telling the requested cookie name and value. If you say OK when the browser warns you during our password and registration process, then you'll be able to proceed.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6

Select Tools then Internet Options

Select Privacy and set the cookies to medium or low. Or select Advanced to be prompted on receiving cookies or enable only sites you choose.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5

Select Tools then Internet Options

Select the Security tab and Select the Custom Level button.

Find Cookies and change settings to enable.

Netscape Navigator 4

Select Edit then Preferences

Select Advanced on the left file map and choose accept all cookies.
